There are three versions of software, V6, v7 and V8. If your paging system is marked SPS-5v8, you need the V8 software and If your paging system is marked SPS-5v7, you need the V7 software. If your system is marked SPS-5 or other markings, you may need V6 software.

On V6 and older systems, the microprocessor is labelled with firmware version number. V6 software supports V4 through V6 firmware. V8 software only supports new systems marked SPS-5v8 on the case cover and V7 software only supports new systems marked SPS-5v7 on the case cover.
